More than 50 Years of Organic Production
Already in the year 1956 Georg Hipp, the founder of the Company, has been the first manufacturer of food from organic origin, making thus the future of HIPP, together with our mother Anna Hipp-Metzner. This happened at the moment when the organic agriculture as well as the protection of environment wasn’t important in the western world, without nearly as much importance as these words have today and there were very few people who gave any serious consideration to these resources. In the meantime we have not only grown becoming a premium brand on the market in the field of baby food, but we have
also become the largest processor of the organic raw material in the world. Our methods have also become the trademark of our company.
One of my first task in the company was to give advise to farmers: in the sixties we used to drive from farm to farm trying to convince the farmers about the benefits of the organic production. Of course there were many farmers who were not open-minded to the new ideas and who flatly refused such possibility. But there were others as well, those we were able to convince. Today, 6000 farmers work for HIPP managing more than 15000 hectares of agricultural land, following strict guidelines concerning the organic production.
We practice organic production from the times when we have been considered as outlandish. Farmers, the official policy and large industries were often against us, but we but we steadily continued along the path we had chosen. Looking back, my brother and I, we are filled with pride for our success and the success of our staff which motivates us to press ahead with further development our company and our products in the best possible way.
Uncompromising organic quality beyond the concepts of fashion and trends – that is the secret of HiPP’s success. By this we have proved that “organic” can indeed be successful. HIPP consistent sustainability policy of quality has been, and still is, widely approved – and we are satisfied to be able to apply our long-termed ecological and social ideas to our staff.
In 2006 –the B.A.U.M. award for the protection of environment in the category of small- and middle-sized companies and 'N24 Good News Award 2005“were awarded to HIPP and mean a lot confirming our cooperative philosophy „Organic“, however, means a process we established and thus must maintain. We are aware of the responsibility we have and intend not to rest upon our laurels. A careful use of resources and environment, respecting the way to test both together with the highest possible quality of our products – these are the requirements within which we also may grow.
